Tugelarider, why don’t you play on local servers? There are really a lot of local SA servers and they are surprisingly full.

Looking to go the Neotell route… But i play COD4 every night (oversea servers) Ping in the area of 300 – 480. Playing only sniper servers. I’ll rather stay with Telkom unless there are changes regarding latency. Any updates regarding this. Tx

Hi Craig, I can’t think of any way to do that directly through the router. But, you can plug the neo modem into a pc and the pc to the router. on the router you just asssign the gateway as the pc ip. I’ll think about the modem->USB->router concept coz I’m sure a bunch of peeps would prefer a setup like that.

Just for the record; I don’t use any neotel services yet as my telkom adsl stil works fine. (Touch wood)

Any way of making the Usb connection of the neotel handset wireless? basically is there a way to have the usb connection into a router to use on wireless laptops?

Thanks for that, now if only someone could let us know their ping on local servers. My Cod4 career has come to an end as I previously had a “4mb” line which I lost as I moved to my new place. Geez, life is boring with no broadband, no dstv and only single player. How many times can I beat cod4, crysis and replay medieval without ripping my hair out.
Come on Neotel, up your ‘game’ a tad. Im bored.

150 ms and 700 ms on local servers is not lekker for fps games. The difference between a 50 ping (latency) and even 100 is huge, from 100ms it gets sluggish and 150+ is NOT gonna be worth it.
Unless if you play RTS games.
150+ ms ping will cause enemies to ‘teleport’ from one spot to another instead of smooth movement, you might shoot someone in the head but by die time the shot is received at the server, the enemy has moved.

The bandwidth doesn’t directly affect this ‘delay’/ping/latency as the game hardly uses the 2.4mb bandwidth.

Remember: 150 minimum…
Hopefully someone with Neotel CDMA Wireless can join a local(saix) server and just tell us what ping he/she gets.

So, when you say no online gaming do you mean not even on SA servers?
Im thinking of going for this but If I cant play online then what the hell is the point.
